Singapore-Southeast Asian Pipe Band Championship 2014

McNally Memorial Pipe Band
McNally Memorial Pipe Band fielded a contingent of seven at the recent Singapore-Southeast Asian Pipe Band Championship. This is also the first time the band participated in a local competition.

The competition was held at St. Joseph Institution (Holding Campus) over the 7th and 8th of June.

Piper Joel and Martin, and Drummer Ivan and Amos also competed in the solo competition. Joel emerged champion in the D Grade Piping segment.

Adjudicators Nat Russell GC OAM and James Laughlin, in their adjudicators' sheet remarked that the band played a "well constructed medley".

The band is proud to mention the effort of Piper Stephanie Chew, who had only recently started playing the pipes. She held her nerves and emerged a champion in her own rights. We are proud of you!

At the rising of the moon, McNally Memorial Pipe Band remained disqualified over the shortage of players. The Band had failed to meet the minimum criteria of 6 pipers, 2 snares and 1 bass drummer.

Despite this setback, the band delivered an excellent performance worthy of praise and acclamation.

Keeping the Blowing Steady.

McNally Memorial Pipe Band continues to seek more players, both drummer and pipers, to join in our musical tradition.
